Its 5am and I don’t need to wake-up because I haven’t slept. Another sleepless night, getting out of bed is the most difficult part of the day. I don’t sleep but I want to stay in bed. Just crawl under the covers and disappear. The tears well up. Let me be! But I have no choice. Do […]
Where do you see yourself one hour from now? This was the question I asked myself every time I attended the family court sessions only to find that my ex had asked for more time and the next hearing date would be about a month later. This would be the question I asked myself before […]
Less than six months into my marriage I found myself at a lawyer’s office asking about options to end the marriage. If I said it was the hardest thing I have ever done it wouldn’t be true. There was a voice inside that prodded me on. A voice that had been subdued for a long […]
If someone asks me how you sailed out of your period of separation, I would in a moment say- family, friends and work! A lot of studies have found out that we are happier when we are with our friends as compared to when we are with our spouse/ family! We can comfortably share stuff […]
Some of the best advice I received during my initial days of second bachelorhood is take a break, go out and be with friends. I tried it. But the friend circle I had was limited. The friends with whom I did not have much touch with during married days, I did not get the same […]
Lately, I had been receiving complaints about my son from school. I was told that he doesn’t sit still, and always troubled others. His shenanigans were noticed by teachers and even the vice principal, so much so that she warned me about suspension or even worse, dismissal from school. I felt my heart sink deeper […]
“Fake it until you make it” is a popular catchphrase that helps people to fake confidence before they actually get it. It is not only applicable for confidence in corporate sector. It can also be used for any situation. By any, I mean any. During the stages of physical and emotional abuse in my marriage, […]
Another screaming and shouting session at home. Was there anything new to it? No…nothing at all. Wasn’t this the new normal? However, that day it was different. The usual screaming and shouting session ended with me walking out of my home slamming the door promising never to return again. I had made up my mind, I can’t […]
I consider myself fortunate to have met a group like the phoenix family, especially during the most depressing and nerve-wracking phase of my life. They have listened to my rants, my sorrows, hopes and fears. Providing sound advice, helping and encouraging me at every step of this journey as a single parent. A warm and heartfelt shout out to the group admin and founder of the phoenix family, he's truly the soul of the group and the glue that holds all of us together. They're not just a group of friends anymore, they are family. Words cannot express how immensely grateful my daughter and I are to all of you. Much love.

I joined this group after months of apprehension. But it turned out to be a great group. I found that I can be myself without being judged. I can express views without being afraid of being seen in wrong light. I can discuss things that I was not able to discuss with my family or other friends. It is a great tonic for me to come out of the loneliness and meet others who are going through similar situations. In addition to this the admin and members work hard in keeping people informed about legal and professional knowledge. I would and have recommended people to this group. I also wish there would be more initiatives like this in other parts of India.
